Mayday's 1st Aspen EFD1000 Installation

Mayday Avionics, Inc. has completed our first EFD1000 Primary Flight Display (PFD) installation.  The EFD1000 was part of a complete avionics upgrade in a Piper, PA-32RT-300T; which also consisted of: a Garmin GNS 430W GPS/WAAS Navigation System, GMX 200 Multi-Function Display (MFD), GDL 69 XM Weather Datalink Receiver, GTX 330 Transponder, GMA 347 Audio Panel, and a SL 30 NAV/COM. 

The EFD1000 was installed in place of the existing 52D67 Attitude Gyro and NSD 360 HSI.  The EFD1000 displays navigational steering information from the newly installed GNS 430W Navigation System and SL 30 NAV/COM.  The system can be coupled to the existing Century III Autopilot System.  The CDI Nav Source Select switch (GPS1, VLOC1, and VLOC2 annunciate) and the GPS alert annunciators; MSG, WPT, TERM, INTEG, and APPR are located within the EFD1000 display. 

As required by the Aspen STC, the NSD 360 HSI was relocated to the #2 NAV Indicator position located to the right of the Vertical Speed Indicator and the Mitchell 52D67 Attitude Gyro was reinstalled as a backup, located to the left of the EFD1000 in place of the Turn and Bank indicator.  The Turn and Bank was moved outboard of the Attitude Gyro.

Work was completed on the project July 17th and flew a flawless test flight.  The EFD1000 is an affordable glass cockpit system that enables aircraft owners to upgrade their primary flight instrument "six pack" to a glass cockpit.  The EFD1000 PFD is now available Please contact us for more information on an Aspen EFD1000 installation.

Garmin G600 Integrated Flight Deck

The Garmin G600 will be available soon!  Expected delivery is to begin in early August. 

The G600 is an advanced avionics glass panel suite designed to replace the standard flight instrument six-pack.  The G600 is designed to integrate with Garmin panel and remote mount products (Garmin 400W/500W Series unit or GNS 480 required) and provides essential information, such as; attitude, air data, weather, terrain, and traffic.

The G600 Integrated Flight Deck consists of a GDU 620 PFD/MFD, GRS 77 AHRS (Attitude and Heading Reference System), GMU 44 Magnetometer, and GDC 74A Air Data Computer.  The G600 also provides support for interfacing to a wide variety of autopilots.
